Huiothesis

Huiothesis is a term from the original language in which the New Testament was written (Greek). It is most commonly interpreted "adoption," but specifically refers to the placement of an adult child in a position of authority or partnership. This site is dedicated to all those who are ready to put off the clothing of a child and to put on the clothing of manhood; the "toga virilis." We must have men and women in this generation who are not swayed by the spectacular, but firmly rooted and grounded in the Word of God; mature disciples who are not distracted by things that tingle and glitter, but who are sober and vigilant in a world in which there is much to turn our eyes from the goal to pursue that which does not mature, does not build up others, and does not bring glory to God.

Van

A VAN FOR IMMANUEL CHRISTIAN SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF
This is the type of Van that Immanuel Christian School for Deaf desperately needs

In 2010 almost the entire population of students and staff at Immanuel Christian School for the Deaf were stricken with malaria-at the same time. Over 65 students and 10 staff and faculty became desperately ill with this number one killer. (Malaria annually kills more people worldwide than any other disease).

In order to treat everyone the staff had to transport children and themselves into town (25km away) via public transportation (usually this means a crowded matatu (taxi)). They traveled with two or three students each trip, to and from the hospital for malaria treatments - EVERY DAY.   If you will take the numbers noted above and do simple math you can get a picture of the challenge the staff was face with.

Last year, Paul Anyango, a beloved member of the faculty died from complications of malaria, most likely brought on by inadequate medical treatment. The school desperately needs reliable transportation, and I have set as a goal for myself for 2011, with God's help, to provide a van for the school.  A new van will cost around $25,000.  A reliable used van could be as much as $13 - 15 thousand dollars.

I am setting up a fund to sock away money for a new van.  I am also contacting manufacturers to explore the possibility of securing a donation of a van to ship to Kenya.  I will be posting here from time to time, updates on our progress and soon, a form for making online donations.

Please consider assisting us with this project. For this school transportation is not a luxury - it has become an absolute necessity.  We'll keep you posted as to our progress.
