Huiothesis

Huiothesis is a term from the original language in which the New Testament was written (Greek). It is most commonly interpreted "adoption," but specifically refers to the placement of an adult child in a position of authority or partnership. This site is dedicated to all those who are ready to put off the clothing of a child and to put on the clothing of manhood; the "toga virilis." We must have men and women in this generation who are not swayed by the spectacular, but firmly rooted and grounded in the Word of God; mature disciples who are not distracted by things that tingle and glitter, but who are sober and vigilant in a world in which there is much to turn our eyes from the goal to pursue that which does not mature, does not build up others, and does not bring glory to God.

Project Updates

TITLE DEED TO NEW PROPERTY IS FINALLY IN HAND
The Title Deed to new property purchased by the School
Last year, at a cost of $6,000 USD the Immanuel Christian School for the Deaf was able to acquire two additional acres of land which is to be used for expansion of the school program and for agricultural projects.  To actually have a legal deed to hold in one's hand in Kenya can be a difficult and time consuming project.  I received an email this morning (01/13/2011) containing an image of the Title Deed to the new property that was purchased.  You may not be able to see the image clearly but at one point it does declare "This is to certify that Immanuel Christian School for the Deaf, Oyugis is registered as the absolute proprietor of the land comprised in the above mentioned title."
Thank you for all who have supported and contributed to this important developmental step.
EGG & POULTRY PROJECT IS GROWING WELL
New chicks recently purchased for the Egg/Poultry Project

Pictured above is a coop holding the 500 new chicks that were recently added to the project. Currently the project is producing 100 eggs a day (this is without the new chicks) and is providing eggs for the children at least once a week as well as the beginnings of a healthy market income.  Thanks to you who contributed with "seed money" to get the project off the ground last year. As you can see, things are developing well.

One of the students tends to the laying chickens

Pictured here is one of our students tending to the chickens that were grown from the original group of chicks. These hens are producing up to 100 eggs a day. The eggs provide breakfast for the students at least once a week - and are a valuable cash commodity at the local market.

Some of the eggs being prepared for the market. This has become an income producing project

Just a sample of the fine eggs that our students are now producing and taking to market.
Our goals are not simply to provide periodic donations of cash, but to provide a means of developing
a self-sustaining income.

Recently acquired cow to produce fresh milk

The latest additions to the Immanuel Family, providing a constant source of milk to the students and staff.

Those of you who have not been with us from the beginning can scarcely imagine how much different the circumstances are now than they were several years ago. We so appreciate the hard work of Wesley Agnego and his staff as well as the support and faithfulness of Neville Muir at Deaf Ministries International.

Corn being grown for food and sale at the market

Here is a photo of the corn fields which were planted on the new property that we purchased last year.
You can see, clearly in these photos that we are focusing not only on short term assistance, but long term development.

These and other projects are ongoing.
